In the fall of 2010, globalbike raised $2,700 and provided 18 bikes to care workers in Sudan. Through partnership with the international organization Right to Play, globalbikes are on the ground and assisting in the important work of developing positive life skills through playful child and youth programs.
Local community members, trained by Right to Play, are supplied with bikes to allow them to travel to remote areas and extend the reach of each program so that more children can participate. Right to Play coaches are integral to the delivery model and bikes are integral to the coaches’ transportation. The 18 globalbikes were provided directly to local community members serving as coaches in Juba. Localbudget constraints did not allow the group to purchase their own bikes, but through globalbike’s help, more children will gain access to these important community services.
