Added in 2009, Tanzania is another African country in great need. Population growth and increased agricultural and industrial demands have put a strain on the country's limited fresh water supplies. Many rural villages have contaminated water that spreads water-borne parasites, bacteria, and viruses.
When asked to work in Tanzania, globalbike only had experience dealing with HIV/AIDS. The board thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to test the power of bikes against water sanitation issues.
The bikes didn't let us down! Currently, 12 bikes are working in several villages to provide education to over 30,000 individuals. This work is just the beginning as globalbike is eager to learn more and experiment with other ways bikes can assist community care workers to reach rural villages and make a world of difference.
